Interviews
Godhead
You just returned from playing the „True Rock Tour 2007“ in the UK with Soil, Brand New Sin and Lennon. How did that package work out?
I think it worked out great! All the bands got along famously and the fans really seemed to like the bill.
Who of these bands did you have the most drinks with, who parties the hardest?
Brand New Sin for sure! I don’t drink, but the other guys in Godhead were hard pressed to find a beer after our show if we shared a dressing room with BNS. We love those guys though!
Your new album „The Shadow Line“ (our current „CD of the Week“ at www.vainstream-music.de ) came out last year in the US and now finally in Germany. How were the reactions you’ve been getting from fans and foes in your homecountry and what do you expect will the response overseas be like?
It’s mainly been positive. It’s been a few years since we’ve put out a CD, and we’ve progressed on every CD so I like to see people’s reaction to that.
„The Shadow Line“ was produced by the band plus Julian Beeston (who already produced Billy Idol and Nitzer Ebb) and Ben Moody (who is mostly known for being part of Evanescence and then writing for girl-pop-acts such as Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne). How did you share the duties, who did what in the production process?

Julian was there every day and really did a great job getting killer sounds. He let us do our own thing and didn’t try to change songs around too much like many other producers in the past have. He respected our songwriting and arranging ability and really concentrated on getting the best sounds he could. Working with Ben is always fun. He produced and co-wrote „Push“ and always has the spirit and the flow of the song in mind when he’s working.
How was working with Ben? Some people seem to constantly view him as a bitter and grouchy guy - what’s he really like?
I’ve never seen him be bitter or grouchy and I hang out with him all the time! When he works it’s like he’s driven. I’ve never seen a harder worker in the studio.
As a band who’ve done everything from playing tiny shitholes as well as touring with big bands and playing festivals like Ozzfest and Reading, I just have to ask: What was the lowest point of your career so far and what was the highlight?
I’d say the high point so far has been playing Docklands London arena. That is one of my most vivid and fond memories. The lowest point? Trying to get a run down shower to work in a run down club in Wichita, Kansas.
Are you coming over to play Germany any time soon?
I certainly hope so! We are working on it right now.
What do you think of the following bands?
Stabbing Westward
Cool.
Ministry
Al is a genius!
Kraftwerk
Cool outfits!
Slipknot
Cooler outfits!
Please choose one out of the following pairs and tell the readers why!
Laibach or Rammstein?
Rammstein. We toured with them and they have one of the best live shows ever!
Vampirella or Elvira?
Elvira. I met her at a sci-fi convention and she was the coolest!
Meat or Salad?
Depends on the time of day.
Bud or Beck’s?
As a Buddhist I’m not really supposed to drink, so neither.
Paris Hilton or Britney Spears?
How about Masuimi Max?
Ramones or Sex Pistols?
Ramones and the Sex Pistols in a co-headlining tour (in our dreams).
Head or Handjob?
A handjob leading up to head.
Do you have a cool quote or other words of wisdom you’d like to share?
To know where you came from, look at where you are now. To know where you are going, look at what you do now.
Thanks for taking the time! Cheers!
Thank you
